From secretary to product design: My journey and Future Aspirations

Hello, My name is Lynda Jirigho, and I'm a product designer. This is my first introduction in this newsletter. I previously had a newsletter on Hashnord, and I am now trying to create a new one on Substack and be consistent, as I haven't been consistent in posting my newsletters on Hashnord.
Perhaps this inconsistency was due to my full-time job as a secretary at an oil and gas firm. However, I resigned last year to become a full-time product designer, which is an exciting transition for me. I had been working as a secretary in the oil and gas industry, and while there, I realized I wanted to pursue something different in my life. I began studying product design for two years, taking numerous free and paid courses. I equipped myself with a laptop and a desktop, gathering everything I thought I needed to work on my designs and help me grow.
Last November, I secured a job as a product designer, and I have been working with the company ever since. Fast forward to 2025, I am uncertain about my plans, but my primary goal is to grow in my design skills. I want to explore, learn more, and improve my productivity. I am also focused on enhancing my health and making better investments, as I currently do not have any savings due to a lack of proper knowledge. This year, I aim to learn more about investing and growing my wealth effectively.
I have always had the idea of giving back, as I learned a lot from the free courses I found online. I would like to create software or a website that serves as a bookmark for all the resources I used to facilitate this transition in my life. While I am not entirely sure what form this will take, I know I want to create something to give back to others.
I also plan to work on a streaming platform where I can design live. I am considering either a TikTok or YouTube stream, but I want a platform where I can design and engage in regular conversations at least once a week. Additionally, I aim to post newsletters twice a week. However, I struggle with typing and expressing my thoughts in writing. I am currently using paid software that helps translate my spoken words into text, but I am exploring alternatives or considering whether to continue paying for this feature.
Overall, I want to publish newsletters twice a week, maintain a YouTube channel for streaming my designs, and create a website with resources for designers. Lastly, my main priorities are to invest and save.
